As a 501(c) 3 non-profit agency, 211 Palm Beach/Treasure Coast is into its fifth decade of providing a team of specially trained paid and volunteer staff to assist callers through its 211 Helpline with crisis intervention, suicide prevention, information, assessment and referral to community services, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Additionally, 211 Palm Beach/Treasure Coast collects and maintains information on community health and human services and makes this information available via its hotlines, helplines, printed directories, and on the web. Services are provided at no cost to anyone regardless of race, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability.

In July 2000, the Federal Communications Commission designated the three digit number, 2-1-1, nationally to serve as the abbreviate dialing code for access to community information and referral services. Effective February 11, 2002 The Center for Information & Crisis Services implemented 2-1-1 service for Palm Beach County and by January 1, 2003 the residents of Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties could also dial 2-1-1 and receive information, referral, telephone counseling and crisis intervention services.
People call 2-1-1 for many reasons. Some simply need a phone number to a community program, while others call because they need to talk over a problem.
Every call to 211 is considered unique and responded to by a trained, caring and empathetic specialist.
