July 2016, Lantana, FL– After an 18-year tenure, Susan Buza announced that she will be retiring as the President/CEO of 211 Palm Beach/Treasure Coast this August. Stepping into what she thought would be a temporary role back in 1998, quickly became a long-term career venture for her. Susan has poured her heart and soul into making 211 what it is today, and though her retirement doesn’t come as much of a surprise to many, it is time for her to pass her legacy onto the new generation of 211.
Over the years, Susan as led 211 through many successes and achievements. The agency has become nationally accredited by the Alliance of Information and Referral Services (the first in Florida and the fifth in the nation); received national certification from the American Association of Suicidology and Contact USA; become accessible by dialing the three digit number 2-1-1; changed its name from The Center of Information and Crisis Services to 211 Palm Beach/Treasure Coast; realized a tripling of its annual budget by broadening its income sources; increased its service area from one county to five; added four specialized services (Special Needs HelpLine, PBC Victim Services Hotline, Healthcare Advocacy and Help Me Grow); and continued to be recognized as a critical service within the human service delivery system.
“It has been extremely rewarding to see how 211 has grown over the past several years and how we have become such an integral part of the service delivery system in our region,” said Susan Buza. “I cherish all of the relationships I have built over my tenure with 211 and I thank everyone who has played a role in our success.”
As a special thank you to Mrs. Buza for all that she has done for the agency, 211 will be hosting its Annual Fall event in her honor. “Cocktails & Croquet” will be held on October 14th at the National Croquet Center and will include dinner, drinks, entertainment and a silent auction, all for only $150 per person. The evening will shine a light on and pay tribute to all that Susan has accomplished throughout her career, as well as introduce 211 HelpLine’s new President/CEO, Sharon L’Herrou who will stepping into the role September 1st.
